Mouse Transferrin Receptor ELISA Kit (ab243674) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of Transferrin Receptor protein in cit plasma and serum. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Mouse Transferrin Receptor with 116 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. Function
Cellular uptake of iron occurs via receptor-mediated endocytosis of ligand-occupied transferrin receptor into specialized endosomes. Endosomal acidification leads to iron release. The apotransferrin-receptor complex is then recycled to the cell surface with a return to neutral pH and the concomitant loss of affinity of apotransferrin for its receptor. Transferrin receptor is necessary for development of erythrocytes and the nervous system (By similarity). A second ligand, the heditary hemochromatosis protein HFE, competes for binding with transferrin for an overlapping C-terminal binding site. Positively regulates T and B cell proliferation through iron uptake (PubMed:26642240).

Interpolated concentrations of native Transferrin Receptor in mouse serum and plasma (citrate) samples.The concentrations of Transferrin Receptor were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the Transferrin Receptor standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows: serum 3.13% and plasma (citrate) 3.13%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean Transferrin Receptor concentration was determined to be 620.08 pg/mL in serum, 794.84 ng/mL in plasma (citrate).
