Mouse PON2 ELISA Kit (ab208984) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of PON2 protein in cell culture extracts and tissue extracts. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Mouse PON2 with 41 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. Notes
Serum Paraoxonase (PON2) is a 39-45 kDa, calcium binding, membrane-bound protein, ubiquitously expressed in mouse tissue. PON2 exhibits hydrolytic activity against acylhomoserine lactones, which are important bacterial quorum-sensing mediators, which might suggest a role in the defense response to pathogenic bacteria. Mutations of this gene have been suggested to be associated to vascular disease and with a number of quantitative phenotypes related to diabetes.

Function
Capable of hydrolyzing lactones and a number of aromatic carboxylic acid esters. Has antioxidant activity. Is not associated with high density lipoprotein. Prevents LDL lipid peroxidation, reverses the oxidation of mildly oxidized LDL, and inhibits the ability of MM-LDL to induce monocyte chemotaxis. -

Undiluted liver, spleen, and NIH/3T3 extract is at 31,62.5, and 25 µg/mL extract, respectively The concentrations of mouse PON2 were measured in duplicate and interpolated from the mouse PON2 standard curve and corrected for sample dilution. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2).
