Abcam’s IL-7 Mouse ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of mouse IL-7 in serum, plasma and cell culture supernates.
This assay employs an antibody specific for mouse IL-7 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and IL-7 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-mouse IL-7 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL-7 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

IL-7 is a cytokine important for B and T cell development. It and the hepatocyte growth factor form a heterodimer that functions as a pre-pro-B cell growth-stimulating factor. IL-7 is found to be a cofactor for V(D)J rearrangement of the T cell receptor beta (TCRB) during early T cell development. It can be produced locally by intestinal epithelial and epithelial goblet cells, and may serve as a regulatory factor for intestinal mucosal lymphocytes. Knockout studies in mice suggested that IL-7 plays an essential role in lymphoid cell survival. -
