The Mitochondrial Tracker Green Staining Kit (ab228568) uses a green-fluorescent stain that is effectively chemically equivalent to MitoTracker® Green FM. The stain localizes in mitochondria regardless of mitochondrial membrane potential to easily stain and quantify active mitochondria.

This type of staining has been widely used to monitor mitochondrial viability, fragmentation, damage or loss in a variety of pathologies including Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease and cardiovascular diseases as well as for cell cycle, apoptosis, mitophagy, chemotaxis and morphogenesis analyses.

Note: The dye will stain live cells but is not well-retained after fixation.
