Human VE Cadherin ELISA Kit (ab210968) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of VE Cadherin protein in cell culture supernatant, plasma, serum, and urine. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Human VE Cadherin with 331 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. Notes
VE-Cadherin (also known as Cadherin 5 or CD144) is a calcium dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein. VE-Cadherin is a member of the cadherin superfamily, which interact with themselves in connecting cells. VE-Cadherin is expressed in endothelial cells and has role establishing and maintaining endothelial polarity and intercellular junctions.

Function
Cadherins are calcium dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. This cadherin may play a important role in endothelial cell biology through control of the cohesion and organization of the intercellular junctions. It associates with alpha-catenin forming a link to the cytoskeleton. -

Interpolated concentrations of native VE-Cadherin in human serum, and plasma samples.The concentrations of VE-Cadherin were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the VE-Cadherin standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows: serum 1:100 and plasma (heparin) 1:67. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean VE-Cadherin concentration was determined to be 919 ng/mL in serum and 1,400 ng/mL in plasma (heparin).
