Biological description
Endogenous glycosaminoglycan with anticoagulant activity. MW = 4,000-6,000 Da. Binds and activates antithrombin III; inhibits binding and and activation of thrombin and Factor Xa. Potentially blocks bone and cartiledge formation. Ligand for ALK oncogenic kinase. Used in the generation of kidney organoids from human pluripotent stem cells. Used in protocol to generate kidney organoids.
