Biological description
Neuronal potassium channel opener. Activates Kv7.2 channels and potently activates the inwardly rectifying potassium current (KIR; EC50 = 600 nM). Centrally acting, non-opiate analgesic. Neuroprotective and antiapoptotic agent. Also has muscle relaxant properties. Active in vivo.

Handling
