Biological description
ATP-competitive, selective and highly potent mTOR inhibitor (IC50 = 7nM). Displays selectivity over PI 3-Kα and PI 2-Kγ by 100-fold and 500-fold respectively. Inhibits mTORC1 and mTORC2 substrate (s6K, SGK and Akt) phosphorylation, blocks VEGF secretion and HIF-1α expression. Effect of G1 cycle arrest and selective apoptosis has anti-proliferative effect in cancer cells.
