Product overview
Human HAI-2 ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative determination of HAI-2 in cell culture supernatants, plasma and serum samples.
Δ Note: Collect plasma using EDTA and/or Citrate as anti-coagulant. Heparin is not recommended.
This assay employs an antibody specific for human HAI-2 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and HAI-2 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-human HAI-2 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of HAI-2 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
This ELISA antibody pair detects human HAI-2, less than 0.1% cross-reactivity with human HAI-1 and mouse HAI-2B is observed.

Expressed in placenta, kidney, pancreas, prostate, testis, thymus, and trachea. -
Involvement in disease
Defects in SPINT2 are the cause of diarrhea type 3 (DIAR3) [MIM:270420]; also known as congenital sodium diarrhea (CSD). DIAR3 is a rare, inherited diarrhea of infancy. A diagnosis of DIAR3 is made on the findings of a life-threatening secretory diarrhea, severe metabolic acidosis, and hyponatremia secondary to extraordinarily high fecal losses of sodium, with low or normal excretion of urinary sodium, in the absence of infectious, autoimmune, and endocrine causes. -
