Biological description
Fluo-5 AM is an analogue of Fluo-4 with reduced calcium binding affinity (Kd = 2.3 μM). Suitable for detecting intracellular calcium levels in the range 1 μM to 1 mM. Cells can be loaded with Fluo-5 AM by adding the dissolved indicator directly to cells in culture dishes.
Fluo-5 AM has excitation and emission wavelengths at 494 and 516 nm respectively. Compatible with excitation by argon-ion lasers at 488 nm. Fluorescence inceases by >100-fold upon binding calcium.

Handling
Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day. However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20°C. Generally, these will be useable for up to one month. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour.
