Biological description
DNA synthesis inhibitor. Prodrug converted to active metabolite F-ara-A which inhibits ribonucleotide reductase and competitively inhibits DNA polymerase. Also prevents DNA ligase I from joining DNA. Induces apoptosis. Active in vivo.
