General notes
FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY. For commercial use, please contact partnerships@abcam.com.
This product was switched from a hybridoma to recombinant production method on 07th March 2019.
This antibody reacts with a membrane-bound isoenzyme of placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP) occurring in the placenta during the 3rd trimester of gestation. It is useful in the identification of testicular germ cell tumors. Unlike germ cell tumors, PLAP-positive somatic cell tumors uniformly express epithelial membrane antigen (EMA).
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
- - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
- - Improved sensitivity and specificity
- - Long-term security of supply
- - Animal-free production
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

Cells were fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde and permeabilised with 90% methanol. Goat anti rabbit IgG (Alexa Fluor® 488, ab150077) at 1/2000 dilution was used as a secondary antibody.
