Relevance
Component C2 which is part of the classical pathway of the complement system is cleaved by activated factor C1 into two fragments: C2b and C2a. C2a, a serine protease, then combines with complement factor 4b to generate the C3 or C5 convertase. -

Anti-C2b antibody (ab66999) at 1 µg/ml + Liver (Mouse) Tissue Lysate at 10 µg
Secondary
Goat polyclonal to Rabbit IgG - H&L - Pre-Adsorbed (HRP) at 1/3000 dilution
Developed using the ECL technique.
Performed under reducing conditions.
Predicted band size: 84 kDa
Observed band size: 97 kDa why is the actual band size different from the predicted?
Additional bands at: 47 kDa. We are unsure as to the identity of these extra bands.
Exposure time: 20 minutes
Mouse Complement C2 precursor (C2b) contains a number of potential glycosylation sites (SwissProt) which may explain its migration at a higher molecular weight than predicted. The 97 kDa band observed is also comparable to the molecular weight seen with other commercially available antibodies to C2b.
