Potent, specific acyl-CoA synthetase inhibitor (Ki values are 15 nM and 2 μM for Faa2p and Faa4p respectively). Inhibits synthesis of cholesteryl ester and triacylglycerol in vitro. Vasodilator agent. Orally active. Active in vivo and in vitro.

Functional Studies - Triacsin C, acyl-CoA synthetase inhibitor (ab141888)Triacsin C inhibits the proliferation of 3T3-L1 cells.
Cells were treated with different concentrations of Triacsin C (ab141888) for 3 days. The number of live cells was measured by XTT cell proliferation assay kit, normalized to the control (100%) and plotted against the drug concentration.
