Product overview
Mouse MER ELISA Kit (ab210572) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of MER protein in plasma, serum, tissue extracts, and cell culture supernatant. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Mouse MER with 27.8 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
- Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
- High sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility from superior antibodies
- Fully validated in biological samples
- 96-wells plate breakable into 12 x 8 wells stripsA 384-well SimpleStep ELISA® microplate (ab203359) is available to use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with SimpleStep ELISA® kits.

Notes
MER is a receptor tyrosine kinase that regulates a variety of cellular processes, including cell survival, migration, differentiation and efferocytosis along with the immune response.

Function
In case of filovirus infection, seems to function as a cell entry factor. -
Tissue specificity
Not expressed in normal B- and T-lymphocytes but is expressed in numerous neoplastic B- and T-cell lines. -
Involvement in disease
Defects in MERTK are the cause of retinitis pigmentosa type 38 (RP38) [MIM:613862]. RP38 is a retinal dystrophy belonging to the group of pigmentary retinopathies. Retinitis pigmentosa is characterized by retinal pigment deposits visible on fundus examination and primary loss of rod photoreceptor cells followed by secondary loss of cone photoreceptors. Patients typically have night vision blindness and loss of midperipheral visual field. As their condition progresses, they lose their far peripheral visual field and eventually central vision as well. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. Tyr protein kinase family. AXL/UFO subfamily.
Contains 2 fibronectin type-III domains.
Contains 2 Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains.
Contains 1 protein kinase domain. -

SimpleStep ELISA technology allows the formation of the antibody-antigen complex in one single step, reducing assay time to 90 minutes. Add samples or standards and antibody mix to wells all at once, incubate, wash, and add your final substrate. See protocol for a detailed step-by-step guide.

The concentrations of MER were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the MER standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows: serum 20%, plasma (citrate) 20%, plasma (heparin) 20% and plasma (EDTA) 20%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean MER concentration was determined to be 27.7 ng/mL in serum, 28.6 ng/mL in plasma (citrate), 37.1 ng/mL in plasma (heparin) and 37.8 ng/mL in plasma (EDTA).
