Mouse EGF ELISA Kit (ab234560) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of EGF protein in edta plasma, serum, tissue extracts, urine, cell culture supernatant, and cit plasma. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Mouse EGF with 1.03 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:

Function
EGF stimulates the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues in vivo and in vitro and of some fibroblasts in cell culture. Magnesiotropic hormone that stimulates magnesium reabsorption in the renal distal convoluted tubule via engagement of EGFR and activation of the magnesium channel TRPM6. Can induce neurite outgrowth in motoneurons of the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis in vitro (PubMed:10964941). -

The concentrations of EGF were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the EGF standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows: urine 1:10,000 and kidney supernatant 1:4. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean EGF concentration was determined to be 600,860 pg/mL in neat urine and 384.1 pg/mL in neat kidney tissue supernatant.

The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean EGF concentration was determined to be 90.16 pg/mL in mouse kidney tissue extract.
