Biological description
Substituted benzothiadiazide. Exhibits an inhibitory effect on Ca2+ contracture which is significantly but not totally abolished by an NO synthase inhibitor in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) aortic rings with functional endothelium. Induces endothelium-dependent inhibition of the vasoconstrictor responses to norepinephrine and arginine vasopressin only in aortas from SHR rather than normotensive Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY). Inhibits renin release in rat kidney slices.
