Overview

  • Product name

Maltose Binding Protein Affinity Resin - Amintra
  • General notes

    Product overview

MBP tagging of recombinant proteins can result in increased expression levels and higher solubility of the target protein, while allowing high purity recovery. Proper folding of the attached protein has also been shown to be promoted by the MBP tag. Due to the increased solubility, the tag can be extremely useful for recombinant proteins accumulated in an insoluble form (inclusion bodies).

Maltose Binding Protein Affinity Resin - Amintra (ab270538) is a chromatography medium for purifying proteins fused to maltose binding protein (MBP-tagged protein). The base matrix of this resin is a robust, highly cross-linked 6% agarose, optimized to give high physical and chemical stability and high binding specificity. The evenly sized beads ensure that MBP-tagged proteins elute in narrow peaks, minimising the need for further time-consuming concentration steps.

Affinity purification using Maltose Binding Protein Affinity Resin - Amintra takes place under physiological conditions, and mild elution is performed using maltose which preserve target protein activity. These mild conditions may even allow purification of intact protein complexes.
