Background
These epithelial like cells are used as a model for colorectal tumours as they express tumor markers and produce CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen). They are also used to investigate cytotoxicity, tumorigenicity, drug resistance, pharmacodynamics, chemotherapeutic agents as well as for antitumour testing.
