Human ULBP3 ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative determination of ULBP3 in cell culture supernatants, plasma and serum samples.
This assay employs an antibody specific for human ULBP3 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and ULBP3 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-human ULBP3 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ULBP3 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Relevance
ULBP3 is a human ligand for the NKG2D receptor, together with at least ULBP1 and ULBP2. ULBPs activate multiple signaling pathways in primary NK cells, resulting in the production of cytokines and chemokines. Binding of ULBPs ligands to NKG2D induces calcium mobilization and activation of the JAK2, STAT5, ERK and PI3K kinase/Akt signal transduction pathway. ULBP3 has a lower affinity for NKG2D compared to ULBP1 and ULBP2 and induces weaker signaling responses than does ULBP2 or ULBP1. -
