Product overview
Human TAFI ELISA kit (ab272774) is intended for the quantitative determination of total TAFI antigen in human plasma and serum.
Human TAFI will bind to the affinity purified capture antibody coated on the microtiter plate. TAFI and TAFIa will react with the antibody on the plate. After appropriate washing steps, horseradish peroxidase labeled polyclonal anti-human TAFI antibody binds to the captured protein. Excess primary antibody is washed away and TMB substrate is used for color development at 450nm. A standard calibration curve is prepared along with the samples to be measured using dilutions of human TAFI. Color development is directly proportional to the concentration of total TAFI in the samples.

Relevance
The thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) is a hepatically secreted zymogen. It potently attenuates fibrinolysis by removing the fibrin C-terminal lysine and arginine residues that are important for the binding and activation of plasminogen. This molecule is also known as carboxypeptidase U (CPU). It is an unstable basic carboxypeptidase that circulates in human plasma in its proenzyme form. -
