Product overview
Human PGRPs ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative determination of PGRPs in cell culture supernatants, plasma and serum samples.
This assay employs an antibody specific for human PGRPs coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and PGRPs present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-human PGRPs antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PGRPs bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
This ELISA antibody pair detects human PGRPs, less than 0.05% cross-reactivity with human PGRP-1 beta and mouse PGRPs is observed.

Function
Pattern receptor that binds to murein peptidoglycans (PGN) of Gram-positive bacteria. Has bactericidal activity towards Gram-positive bacteria. May kill Gram-positive bacteria by interfering with peptidoglycan biosynthesis. Binds also to Gram-negative bacteria, and has bacteriostatic activity towards Gram-negative bacteria. Plays a role in innate immunity. -
Tissue specificity
Highly expressed in bone marrow. Weak expression found in kidney, liver, small intestine, spleen, thymus, peripheral leukocyte, lung, fetal spleen and neutrophils. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanine amidase 2 family. -
Post-translational
modificationsN-glycosylated. N-glycosylation is required for bactericidal activity. -
Cellular localization
Secreted. Cytoplasmic granule. - Information by UniProt
