Product overview
Abcam’s Human GC Globulin (Vitamin D Binding Protein) in vitro competitive ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the quantitive measurement of GC Globulin in plasma, serum, saliva, milk and cell-culture supernatants.
A GC Globulin specific antibody has been precoated onto 96-well plates and blocked. Standards or test samples are added to the wells and subsequently biotinylated GC Globulin is added and then followed by washing with wash buffer. Streptavidin-Peroxidase Conjugate is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. TMB is then used to visualize Streptavidin-Peroxidase enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by Streptavidin-Peroxidase to produce a blue color product that changes into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is inversely proportional to the amount of GC Globulin captured in plate.
The entire kit may be stored at -20°C for long term storage before reconstitution - Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Function
Multifunctional protein found in plasma, ascitic fluid, cerebrospinal fluid, and urine and on the surface of many cell types. In plasma, it carries the vitamin D sterols and prevents polymerization of actin by binding its monomers. DBP associates with membrane-bound immunoglobulin on the surface of B-lymphocytes and with IgG Fc receptor on the membranes of T-lymphocytes. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the ALB/AFP/VDB family.
Contains 3 albumin domains. -
Cellular localization
Secreted. - Information by UniProt
