Product overview
Human Estrogen Receptor alpha ELISA Kit (ab277408) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human Estrogen Receptor alpha in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for Human Estrogen Receptor alpha coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Human Estrogen Receptor alpha present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-Human Estrogen Receptor alpha antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human Estrogen Receptor alpha bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Function
Nuclear hormone receptor. The steroid hormones and their receptors are involved in the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression and affect cellular proliferation and differentiation in target tissues. Can activate the transcriptional activity of TFF1. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the nuclear hormone receptor family. NR3 subfamily.
Contains 1 nuclear receptor DNA-binding domain. -
Domain
Composed of three domains: a modulating N-terminal domain, a DNA-binding domain and a C-terminal ligand-binding domain. -
Post-translational
modificationsPhosphorylated by cyclin A/CDK2. Phosphorylation probably enhances transcriptional activity.
Glycosylated; contains N-acetylglucosamine, probably O-linked.
Ubiquitinated. Deubiquitinated by OTUB1.
Dimethylated by PRMT1 at Arg-260. The methylation may favor cytoplasmic localization.
Palmitoylated (isoform 3). Not biotinylated (isoform 3). -
Cellular localization
Nucleus. Cytoplasm. Cell membrane. A minor fraction is associated with the inner membrane and Nucleus. Cytoplasm. Cell membrane. Associated with the inner membrane via palmitoylation. - Information by UniProt
