Nanomolar affinity for the I1-imidazoline receptor (IC50 = 30 nM). Endogenous to the brain. Able to cross the blood-brain barrier. Active at I1, I2 and I3 binding sites, 1000-fold selectivity for I1 over α2 adrenoceptors. Known MAO-A inhibitor.

Handling
