Specificity
This antibody reacts with nucleocapsid proteins of Puumala hantaviruses: Vranica, Sotkamo and Kazan and reacts with hantavirus-infected cells. It cross-reacts with nucleocapsid proteins of Andes, Sin Nombre and Seoul hantaviruses. It does not cross-react with hamster polyomavirus major capsid protein VP1, nor with nucleocapsid proteins of measles and mumps viruses. -

The epitope recognized by this antibody is localized at the N-terminus, between amino acids 1 and 45 of hantavirus nucleocapsid protein. -
