Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
The Life Science industry has been in the grips of a reproducibility crisis for a number of years. Abcam is leading the way in addressing the problem with our range of recombinant monoclonal antibodies and knockout edited cell lines for gold-standard validation.
One factor contributing to the crisis is the use of antibodies that are not suitable. This can lead to misleading results and the use of incorrect data informing project assumptions and direction. To help address this challenge, we have introduced an application and species grid on our primary antibody datasheets to make it easy to simplify identification of the right antibody for your needs.

Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded Mouse hippocampus tissue labelling GABA A Receptor alpha 5/GABRA5 with ab259880 at 1/50 (11.4 ug/ml) dilution followed by a ready to use LeicaDS9800 (Bond™ Polymer Refine Detection). Positive staining on mouse hippocampus (PMID:27364953). The section was incubated with ab259880 for 30 mins at room temperature. The immunostaining was performed on a Leica Biosystems BOND® RX instrument. Counterstained with Hematoxylin.
Secondary antibody only control: Secondary antibody is a ready to use LeicaDS9800 (Bond™ Polymer Refine Detection).
Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris-EDTA buffer (pH 9.0, epitope retrieval solution2) for 20 mins.

GABA A Receptor alpha 5/GABRA5 was immunoprecipitated from 0.35 mg Mouse brain tissue lysate with ab259880 at 1/30 dilution (2ug in 0.35mg lysates). Western blot was performed on the immunoprecipitate using ab259880 at 1/1000 dilution. VeriBlot for IP Detection Reagent (HRP)(ab131366) was used at 1/5000 dilution.
Lane 1: Mouse brain tissue lysate 10 ug
Lane 2: ab259880 IP in Mouse brain tissue lysate
Lane 3: Rabbit monoclonal IgG (ab172730) instead of ab259880 in mouse brain tissue lysate
Blocking and dilution buffer and concentration: 5% NFDM/TBST.
Exposure time: 93 seconds.
This blot was developed using a higher sensitivity ECL substrate.
