General notes
This antibody clone is manufactured by Abcam. If you require a custom buffer formulation or conjugation for your experiments, please contact orders@abcam.com.
CD35 is an alternative name for CR1.
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
- - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
- - Improved sensitivity and specificity
- - Long-term security of supply
- - Animal-free production
The Life Science industry has been in the grips of a reproducibility crisis for a number of years. Abcam is leading the way in addressing the problem with our range of recombinant monoclonal antibodies and knockout edited cell lines for gold-standard validation.
One factor contributing to the crisis is the use of antibodies that are not suitable. This can lead to misleading results and the use of incorrect data informing project assumptions and direction. To help address this challenge, we have introduced an application and species grid on our primary antibody datasheets to make it easy to simplify identification of the right antibody for your needs.

Immunofluorescent analysis of 4% Paraformaldehyde-fixed, 0.1% Triton X-100 permeabilized human PBMC cells labelling CD35 / CR1 with ab254151 at 1/100 dilution, followed by ab150113 Goat Anti-mouse IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) antibody at 1/1000 dilution (Green). Confocal image showing membranous and cytoplasmic staining in human PBMC. ab179513 Anti-beta Tubulin rabbit monoclonal antibody was used to counterstain tubulin at 1/500 dilution, followed by ab150080 Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 594) (Red). The nuclear counterstain was DAPI (Blue).
Negative control 1: ab254151 at a 1/100 dilution followed by ab150080 at a 1/500 diliution.
Negative control 2: ab179513 at a 1/500 dilution followed by ab150113 at a 1/1000 diliution.

Flow cytometric analysis of human peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) cells labelling CD35 / CR1 with ab254151 at 1/1000 dilution (0.1µg) (Right panel) compared with a mouse monoclonal IgG isotype control (Left panel). Goat anti mouse IgG (Alexa Fluor® 488, ab150113) at 1/2000 dilution was used as the secondary antibody.
Cells were stained with mouse IgG (Left) or ab254151 (Right), then stained with anti-CD19 conjugated to Alexa Fluor® 647.
Gated on viable cells.
