The Life Science industry has been in the grips of a reproducibility crisis for a number of years. Abcam is leading the way in addressing the problem with our range of recombinant monoclonal antibodies and knockout edited cell lines for gold-standard validation.
One factor contributing to the crisis is the use of antibodies that are not suitable. This can lead to misleading results and the use of incorrect data informing project assumptions and direction. To help address this challenge, we have introduced an application and species grid on our primary antibody datasheets to make it easy to simplify identification of the right antibody for your needs.

Immunohistochemistry analysis of paraffin-embedded human spleen tissue stained for Myeloperoxidase using ab279686 at a 1/50 dilution (red).
Positive staining on human spleen.
The section was then incubated overnight at +4°C in TBS containing 0.025% (v/v) Triton X-100 and 1% (w/v) BSA with ab279686 at 1/50 dilution (shown in red). Nuclear DNA was labeled with DAPI (shown in blue). The section was then mounted using Fluoromount®.
Non-specific protein-protein interactions were then blocked in TBS containing 0.025% (v/v) Triton X-100, 0.3M (w/v) glycine and 1% (w/v) BSA for 1h at room temperature.
Image was taken with a confocal microscope (Leica-Microsystems, TCS SP8).Heat mediated antigen retrieval using ab93684 (Tris/EDTA buffer, pH 9.0).
