  • Background

Y-79 cells are used as an in vitro model for retina and retinal tumour growth. They have been recently used as research tools to investigate the function of retinoic acid in the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation,in studies of the role of Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) in cell-surface receptor binding to its receptors present on Y-79 cells, and in the role of pituitary adenylyl cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) receptor type 1 signalling.
