This kit uses the highly accurate and widely used MTT redox dye to measure cell viability in a microtiterplate format.
This assay uses the robust and reliable tetrazolium dye MTT to quickly and accurately measure cell viability. The assay relies on the reduction of MTT by intracellular oxidoreductases in live cells. The absorbance of this colored solution is then quantified using a plate reader or spectrophotometer with absorbance reading at 570 nm (550-600 nm). A very commonly used method, the MTT assay has been referenced over 10,000 times in PubMed. The Non-Radioactive Cell Proliferation Assay Kit provides sufficient reagents for 2500 assays of 100 µl each.
