Abcam’s Thrombomodulin Human in vitro ELISA Set is designed for the quantitative measurement of Thrombomodulin in cell culture supernatants, buffered solutions, serum, plasma and other body fluids.
This ELISA Set is intended to measure human Thrombomodulin in cell -culture supernatants, as well as in serum and plasma samples. The enclosed procedures provide general guidelines for ELISA preparation. This procedure may need some optimization depending on the plastic, matrix, standard range.
These reagents are intended for research use only, not for diagnostic purposes.
The Thrombomodulin ELISA Set includes both the capture and the detection antibodies as well as Horse-Radish peroxidase conjugated Streptavidin (HRP-Strep) and TMB which are the reagents used in the colour development step.
Recognizes both natural and recombinant human Thrombomodulin.

Relevance
Thrombomodulin is a specific endothelial cell receptor that forms a 1:1 stoichiometric complex with thrombin. Endothelial cells are unique in synthesizing thrombomodulin. The thrombomodulin/thrombin complex is responsible for the conversion of protein C to the activated protein C (protein Ca), which degrades clotting factors Va and VIIIa and reduces the amount of thrombin generated. Defects in Thrombomodulin may be a cause of thromboembolic disease. -
