  • Product overview

Abcam’s Serpin A4 Human ELISA Kit (ab193714) is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human Serpin A4 in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatant.

This assay employs an antibody specific for human Serpin A4 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and the immobilized antibody captures Serpin A4 present in the samples. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human Serpin A4 antibody is added. After washing away any unbound biotinylated antibody, an HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. After incubation, the wells are again washed, followed by the addition of a TMB substrate solution to the wells. Color will develop in proportion to the amount of Serpin A4 bound in each well. Addition of the Stop Solution will change the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

  • Function

Inhibits human amidolytic and kininogenase activities of tissue kallikrein. Inhibition is achieved by formation of an equimolar, heat- and SDS-stable complex between the inhibitor and the enzyme, and generation of a small C-terminal fragment of the inhibitor due to cleavage at the reactive site by tissue kallikrein.
  • Tissue specificity

Expressed by the liver and secreted in plasma.
  • Sequence similarities

    Belongs to the serpin family.
  • Post-translational
    modifications

    The N-terminus is blocked.
  • Cellular localization

    Secreted.
