General notes
The primer concentration is 1 micromolar (μM).
Accession number: M26919.The HsSATa primers can be used to quantify a control locus in chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays with chromatin prepared from human cells. The SATa primers are specific for a centromeric, satellite repeat on chromosome 1. In most cell types this repeat is heterochromatic and enriched with histone modifications associated with heterochromatin such as Histone H3 K9 tri methylation (see image with ab8898). Whereas it shows low levels of histone modifications associated with active gene transcription such as Histone H3 K4 tri methylation (see image with ab8580).

Relevance
The centromeric regions of all human chromosomes are characterized by distinct subsets of a diverse tandemly repeated DNA family, alpha satellite.
