Biological description
Potent monoamine receptor antagonist and reuptake inhibitor (Ki values are 276, 26, 9, 136, 24, 1270, 38, 160, 52, 82, 75, 360, 0.2, 106, 68 and 30 nM for 5-HT1A, 5-HT2A, 5HT2C, 5-HT6, α1, α2, M1, M2, M3, M4, , D2, H1, H4, SERT and NET respectively). Shows antidepressant, anxiolytic, sedative and antipruritic effects in vivo. Orally active.
