Product overview
Canine IL-2 ELISA Kit (ab273172) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Canine IL-2 in serum (Canine IL-2 concentration is low in normal serum/plasma, and may not be detectable in this assay), plasma and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for Canine IL-2 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Canine IL-2 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-Canine IL-2 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Canine IL-2 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Function
Produced by T-cells in response to antigenic or mitogenic stimulation, this protein is required for T-cell proliferation and other activities crucial to regulation of the immune response. Can stimulate B-cells, monocytes, lymphokine-activated killer cells, natural killer cells, and glioma cells. -
Involvement in disease
Note=A chromosomal aberration involving IL2 is found in a form of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). Translocation t(4;16)(q26;p13) with involves TNFRSF17. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the IL-2 family. -
